An explosion and a blackout followed in the heart of Alghero's historic center. Around 8:00 PM today, the electrical substation on Via Ambrogio Machin exploded, causing power outages to several businesses and homes in the area. This incident brings to mind what happened last summer, when a similar outage left part of Alghero Vella without power at the height of the tourist season. Concern is growing among residents and business owners. Many believe this is no longer an isolated incident, but the result of a structural problem related to overloading the electricity grid.

According to residents of the neighborhood, the high demand for energy during the summer, fueled by the high concentration of businesses, accommodations, and air conditioning systems, is putting pressure on an infrastructure no longer adequate to support the historic center's consumption. Technicians are working to restore service.
