A shopping cart loaded with garbage bags has been lying in the harbor waters since New Year's Eve. Environment Commission Chairman Christian Mulas denounced the incident, highlighting a serious act of incivility.
"The port of Alghero represents the natural setting for a tourist city, a symbolic place of our identity and our relationship with the sea. For this reason, it is painful and unacceptable to witness episodes of utter incivility like the one that occurred in recent days," says Mulas. According to reports, unknown individuals threw the cart into the sea for fun, abandoning it in the water with various types of waste inside.
"A shameful act, which demonstrates a total lack of respect for the environment, the port, and the entire community," denounced the president of the Environment Commission.
Making the incident even more serious is the delay in removing the cart. "This delay cannot and must not become the norm," Mulas insists. He has already informed the relevant councilor to ensure the cart is removed immediately and the affected area is cleaned up.
