The thieves entered a house on the outskirts of Ales with a carefully planned robbery: they even carried the safe out onto the street, forced it open, and then fled with six hunting rifles.
The latest theft in Marmilla dates back to two nights ago when criminals managed to enter a house on the outskirts of the town towards Curcuris.
Evidently, they were well aware of the owner's habits, as he was staying with other family members that very night, so they acted confidently. They entered the home and headed straight for the safe where the weapons were stored. They carried it out onto the street and managed to force it open with an emery board.
The noises woke the neighbors, someone raised the alarm but it wasn't enough because the thieves managed to load the six rifles onto an off-road vehicle and escape.
The Carabinieri immediately began an investigation to identify the perpetrators of the theft. They searched the house and the street for evidence that could be useful to the investigation. They also examined any footage from private video surveillance systems, as it appears the public ones were not functioning.
The theft two nights ago follows those carried out in December in Simala, Gonnostramatza and other towns in the Marmilla area.
