The Marmilla cup tournament is back and this year it opened with two memorials that took place in recent days. «The first in memory of Irene Ibba – explains Damiano Cadoni, head of the Ac Ales Academy youth sector – who died several years ago due to a serious illness; At the time she was part of the Ales 11-a-side women's soccer team».

And the club, given that many athletes attend football school, «felt even more the responsibility and pleasure of remembering those who left an indelible mark on the world of women's football. And in this sense we are working to have a women's team and, I must say that we are well advanced given that around 50 girls took part in the memorial, including former teammates of Irene, passionate and enrolled in football school ». Irene's family was also present at the event, including her mother Bruna.

The other memorial was dedicated to Diego Sannia, who passed away a few years ago at not even 40 years of age. «For Diego and Irene, friends, relatives and many fans faced each other in various football matches on two fields at the same time». Emotional moment for family members. "It was an emotional and very proud moment for the demonstration of affection for Diego", commented the parents Gigi and Gina, the sister Serena, the brother-in-law Marco and the niece Rebecca.

Emotion also among Irene's friends. Stefania Coni and Gloriana, former teammates of Irene: "In just one day in memory of Irene we relived the emotions and enthusiasm of youth, of this life that we strive to live every day for her too".

Satisfaction from the president of Ac Ales Mauro Turnu: «A wonderful initiative that has been able to keep alive the memory of Diego and Irene. We hope it will become a fixed appointment for the next few years, as well as the Marmilla Cup tournament, in its second edition, with around 20 different clubs and 60 teams».
