Against the shortage of emergency room specialist staff and ward doctors up to the age of 72

Doctors in the ward up to 72 years of age and specialists to be hired to make up for the staff shortage .

It is one of the measures adopted by the regional council which met yesterday on the proposal of the Health Councilor Armando Bartolazzi .

The executive is thus trying to overcome the difficulties encountered in the emergency rooms and operational units, which are even greater in the summer with the presence of tourists which leads to an increase in the influx of people to the various facilities.

Health companies, explains the Region, in case of impossibility to use staff already in service or to draw from competitive rankings, will be able to recruit doctors enrolled in the last and penultimate year of specialization, to be allocated to emergency-urgency structures .

Recruitment will take place through self-employment contracts and the period of activity will be recognized for the purposes of specialization. It will also be possible to draw from the regional list of professionals who have obtained a medical qualification abroad and are available to practice on the island.

The Council resolution also includes the recommendation to retain or readmit doctors to service up to the age of 72 .
