Adiconsum: «More than 100 euros for a day at Poetto, it is no longer a symbol of inclusion»

Over 100 euros to spend a day at the beach at Poetto including parking, umbrellas, sunbeds and other services .
Thus the beach symbol of sociality and inclusion, "where the bank manager bathed next to the worker", says the president of Adiconsum Cagliari Simone Girau , becomes a good that not everyone can afford. The complaint of the consumers' association comes precisely in the days in which the parking scandal exploded.
Obviously the expense refers to those who go to the beach by car, take umbrellas and sunbeds, eat and drink at the lidos. The calculation is easy: parking, which went from 5 euros per day in 2024 to 14 euros for 10 hours in 2025 (+180%); the rental of 2 umbrellas and 4 sunbeds which stands at an average of 54 euros per day; 20-30 euros for paid showers, water, snacks and ice cream; 30-40 for a complete lunch at the kiosks .
This brings us to 100-120 euros, "with an almost unchanged offer of services". The figure, Adiconsum denounces, is " a concrete obstacle to the accessibility of a public good that, by vocation and tradition, should remain within everyone's reach ".
"Costs are rising, but services are not improving," Garau emphasizes. "This excludes those who cannot afford it. We ask for transparency in rates and more attention to the social value of our coastline along with clearer rules for the management of public areas and a rethink on the accessibility of our city coastline."
In short, expenses have grown out of all proportion. But no one is denied the possibility of enjoying the Cagliari sea: just bring an umbrella and go to the free beach, some water and something to eat if you want to spend the whole day without spending a fortune.
