Rescue operation of the Coast Guard of Cagliari in favor of a passenger of Tunisian nationality taken ill on board a ferry in transit in the Gulf of Cagliari.

It happened late yesterday evening, when the operations room of the Coast Guard received a report from the motor ship "Carthage", coming from Tunis and bound for Marseille, in transit in the Gulf of Cagliari about 35 nautical miles from the coast, for a Tunisian 59-year-old suffering from acute ischemia and in need of urgent medical assistance.

The Coast Guard operations room immediately put the ship in contact with CIRM (International Medical Radio Center) and Service 118 for the necessary medical assessments. The immediate evacuation of the passenger was therefore ordered, recovered with a SAR helicopter of the Decimomannu Coast Guard, an aircraft specialized in sea search activities and equipped with sophisticated equipment that allows it to be used even in night flight, as well as recovery in vertical from naval units.

The passenger was then transferred to the Brotzu in Cagliari for the necessary treatment, while the merchant was authorized to resume navigation to the port of destination.
