What do a village in the Gerrei plains and the expanses of the Argentine pampas have in common? More than you might think: memories, faces, departures and returns, invisible but intensely alive.

This is precisely the heart of “Beyond the Sea, Same Roots,” the traveling photography exhibition that arrives in Mandas from July 21st to 30th, in the evocative spaces of the former Convent of San Francesco, now home to the Municipal Library.

Organized by Crei Acli, in collaboration with the regional Department of Labor and with the support of the Mandas ACLI club, the initiative is part of the Year of Sardinian Emigration to Argentina.

The stage coincides with the patronal celebrations of San Giacomo, giving the local community a unique opportunity to reflect, be moved, and feel part of a collective story.

The protagonist of the exhibition is Ferdinando Caesar Montarcè, architect and photographer, third-generation Sardinian-Argentine .

Through his gaze and that of the Sardinian circles active in Argentina, a photographic journey unfolds, uniting two seemingly distant worlds yet bound by a profound identity. Shots that speak of memory and belonging, in which nostalgia becomes visual testimony.

“Beyond the Sea, Same Roots” is an invitation to rediscover one's origins, to reflect on the meaning of the word “home” for those who grew up with one foot on two continents.
