A light at the end of the tunnel for the workers of Acqua San Martino. This morning in the Provincial building, the 20 employees, without a salary for two months, with their jobs in the balance and the opening of the judicial liquidation in progress of the company, met with the regional councilor for Labor Desirè Manca and the extraordinary administrator of the Metropolitan City Gavino Arru. "We are ready to relaunch - reports the first - There are technical problems that we are solving but the goal of everyone, and in particular of the president Alessandra Todde, is to relaunch an excellence of the territory". The Five Star Movement representative also reassures the workers on the payment front.
"We will protect the workers by activating the redundancy fund - he explains - and if it were to be late with the emergency fund for companies in crisis". Even the former Province, owner of San Martino since 1902, has taken the field by meeting the workers. "It was our duty to see them - says Gavino Arru - The Province has given management of the factories over time and we are evaluating going back to doing it directly". In the meantime, the dispute with the former managers continues while almost 1000 pallets of bottles remain unsold. "It is essential - adds the lawyer Giovanni Campus who assists the employees for UilA - to market the product and take into account that each supermarket provides about 60 pallets".
Another aspect related to the fees concerns the month of March: «It has not been paid and will be included in the bankruptcy liabilities. If we consider that in July there will be a hearing for the bankruptcy status, the workers will not receive it, together with the severance pay, before another six months». «We have positive feelings - reports Michele Serra, provincial secretary of UilA - we hope that the institutions will take action as soon as possible». «When they told us about the bankruptcy - say the workers - we felt great disappointment and bitterness. Behind every bottle there is the work and sacrifice of all of us, who have always been at the service of the company».
