Moments of fear on Balai beach. The alarm was raised at 9.15am when health workers from the 118 Sardo Rescue Service intervened on the beach in Porto Torres to rescue a 41-year-old man who was seriously injured in the leg.

A tourist from Sesto San Giovanni was calmly bathing in the splendid sea of the always crowded beach, when he felt a strong pain in his left leg and the water began to turn red. Blood gushed from a wound below his knees. The tourist asked the swimmers for help. The lifeguard immediately provided first aid. Then the intervention of the 118 ambulance staff and in support of the firefighters, who intervened from the Porto Torres detachment and the Sassari base, to offer assistance in transferring the man weighing 180 kilos.

Once stabilized and harnessed, the 41-year-old was transported up the stairs and, having reached the area above, he was placed safely in the rescue vehicle. His condition was not serious. The cause of the wound could be traced back to venous hemorrhage.
