Sardinian railway connections in chaos in Sardinia . The cause: «An anomalous oxidation of some parts of the rails, the cause of which is being ascertained, which caused the interruption of the automatic control signal that gives the green light to the trains».
The explanation comes from the regional councilor for Transport Barbara Manca, who assures: « We immediately took action to find useful solutions together with the companies involved and to limit the inconvenience to passengers to a minimum».
For safety reasons, since it was not possible to rely on automatic control, it was necessary to resort to manual control, with consequent delays that, from the departure station, reverberate on the timetable planning of the entire route. The connection that suffered the most inconvenience was Cagliari-Oristano. "We are aware of the inconvenience reported by the various users who are using the train to travel today, from delayed trains to those that unfortunately may be cancelled", underlines the member of the council Todde, "we are in constant contact with Rfi and Trenitalia to find rapid and adequate solutions to resolve the problem and to minimize the inconvenience by also resorting to replacement buses that unfortunately are not easily available".
The Region and, in particular, the Department of Transport, "are supporting the activity of Trenitalia and Rfi for the timely restoration of the regularity of the service", reads a note from the council.
