A maxi-tender of over 42 million euros to "revolutionize the water service in 15 Municipalities with the highest rates of water dispersion thanks to the investments of the PNRR funds (National Recovery and Resilience Plan)".

It is the one published by Abbanoa , aimed at carrying out interventions for the reduction of losses in water distribution networks, including the digitization and monitoring of the networks. The electronic open procedure for awarding the works has been announced for 6 July.

The works - explains the company - will go on for about a year and a half and will concern the Municipalities of :

  • Nuoro
  • Olbia
  • Sassari
  • The Magdalene
  • St. Theodore
  • Porto Torres
  • Bosa
  • Siniscula
  • Cabras
  • Budoni
  • Selargius
  • Temple Pausanias
  • Terralba
  • Sestu
  • Sip

«The projects – reads a note from Abbanoa – are the result of the water network engineering program that Abbanoa has been carrying out in recent years. The study of the networks has made it possible to identify the critical issues to be attacked which are the basis of the intervention projects presented. These activities were also aimed at the formulation of protocols, prescriptions and technical solutions for the hydraulic, energy and management efficiency (engineering) of the water distribution networks, developed starting from field surveys, leak detection, detailed hydraulic modeling of the networks and other activities aimed at evaluating the interventions necessary and concurrent with the effective reduction of losses".

«A first part of the network "engineering" process has already been partially completed and is being completed, through the direct implementation of interventions such as extraordinary maintenance, districting and installation of "intelligent" equipment. The second phase of the engineering process instead involves the implementation of interventions such as the modernization and efficiency of existing works and massive replacement of pipelines and connections. The project financed with Pnrr funds provides for the construction of works that fall precisely in this second phase».

«The efficiency improvement and fight against water losses carried out by Abbanoa has already made it possible in recent years to increasingly reduce the amount of water withdrawn, treated and distributed on the network: from the 272 million cubic meters introduced into the network in 2013, dropped to just 219 million cubic meters in 2021 with a decrease of no less than 53 million cubic meters in eight years. All this despite the increase in the number of users served: from 713,000 to 724,000 in the same period of time».
