A €129 million investment to reshape the future of Sardinian healthcare. Brotzu Hospital is preparing for a facelift with the construction of a new, high-tech six-story wing that will house, among other features, 18 modern operating rooms, a completely renovated emergency room, and a large parking area.
Next to the central entrance walkway, a building will be built for the CUP (Central Health Authority) and reception services for patients and visitors. After the unanimous approval yesterday from the Planning Commission, the resolution will now go before the City Council for final approval of the new volumes required for the project.
"This is a long-awaited project," explains Planning Councilor Matteo Lecis Cocco Ortu. "In addition to the new technological upgrade, which will allow for new operating rooms and cutting-edge technological tools to improve the hospital's operation, a new single booking center will also be built, making the entire hospital more accessible and functional," he adds. "This is an extraordinarily important project, undoubtedly the most significant since the opening of the Brotzu Hospital," echoes Andrea Scano, president of the Urban Planning Commission.
