On Tuesday, May 5th, at 10:30 a.m., the Posidonia oceanica treatment plant built by the Sassari Provincial Industrial Consortium at the Alghero-San Marco site will be started up.
This long-awaited project will have a tangible impact on coastal management and environmental protection. The plant will treat the seagrass collected on the beaches, returning the sand to its natural cycle and contributing to the protection of the shoreline.
A system that, beyond Alghero, could potentially serve all of northern Sardinia, turning a problem into a resource. The inauguration will be attended by CIPSS President Simona Fois, General Manager Salvatore Demontis, and Environment Director Graziano Mura.
Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto and Environment Councillor Raniero Selva will be speaking on behalf of the Municipality of Alghero.
The long-awaited commissioning of the facility represents a significant step toward more sustainable management of marine biomass and a replicable model for coastal defense.
