A cutting-edge radiotherapy system ready to debut in Sassari. Starting next month, a tomotherapy machine, “Radixact”, will be available at the AOU, which uses image-guided spiral radiotherapy and intensity modulation. The innovation consists in providing a more precise and controlled chemotherapy treatment, minimizing side effects and maximizing efficacy.
The announcement was made by medical physicist Piergiorgio Marini , speaker at the conference promoted by the Order of Surgeons and Dentists last Saturday at the Hotel Grazia Deledda in Sassari. Daniela Soro, scientific director of the course “Patient radiation protection in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer”, presented the day of refresher courses that continued with illustrations, in the debate moderated by Carlo Putzu and Giommaria Fadda, of new knowledge relating to radiation protection, from diagnosis to treatment.
Particular focus on adequate patient information on the proposed investigation and the choice of the most appropriate methods to use , with the specific aim of obtaining a correct diagnosis and protecting people from unnecessary exposure. Speakers include: Angela Spanu, Paola Crivelli and Salvatrice Campoccia.
