An 8-year-old boy, in imminent danger of death and in need of transfer from Olbia to the Gaslini Pediatric Hospital in Genoa as quickly as possible, was urgently transported on an Italian Air Force Gulfstream G650.

The medical flight, as required by procedures for this type of activity, was authorized by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which manages and coordinates the activities of the state aircraft fleet. The activation occurred at the request of the Prefecture of Sassari to the Headquarters of the Air Squadron Command in Milan, which immediately involved the 31st Wing at Ciampino, one of the units that provides operational readiness for this type of mission.

The G650 reached Olbia airport, where the child, arriving from the John Paul II Hospital, was immediately boarded along with an escort and a medical team. After landing at Genoa airport, an ambulance took him to the Gaslini Hospital for hospitalization.
