A fiery inferno erupts in Maracalagonis, with the town severely damaged by a vast fire.

"Our town is experiencing hours of great concern between Via San Basilio and Via Fratelli Cervi. I was informed by residents of Via San Basilio and, when I went to the scene, I witnessed the desperation ," Mayor Francesca Fadda wrote on social media. She added: "The flames are putting our area to the test. I wish to express my deepest gratitude to the Fire Brigade, Civil Protection, Barracelli, law enforcement, volunteers, and all those who are tirelessly working to contain the fire and secure life and property."

"I appeal," Fadda added in the post, "to all citizens: follow only the authorities' instructions, avoid reaching the areas affected by the fire, and keep the roads clear to allow rescue operations.
