New poverty , but also a large network of solidarity animated by parishes and voluntary associations . It happens in Guspini , where every year the number of families in difficulty increases .

" There are those who have used their life savings to get treatment and found themselves poor from one day to the next. Until recently, these were just isolated cases. Unfortunately, the phenomenon has been on the rise lately," says Don Claudio Marras , parish priest at the church of San Giovanni Bosco. "I've been here for 13 years," he says, "and over time I've understood that the map of hardship is constantly changing . There are families who have suddenly been forced to change their standard of living."
These days there is also a great mobilization in the Caritas Listening Center. Isa Saba, a retired teacher, coordinates the center's activity. Among the people in line there are men who have lost their jobs, former workers on temporary layoff and some pensioners who can't make it to the end of the month.
"In our country - says Alberto Lisci, councilor for Social Services - there are numerous volunteer associations". This year, many merchants have also joined the various solidarity initiatives.
