The 66-year-old cyclist from Monserrato, injured this morning in an accident on state highway 387, was taken to the hospital hospital . Rescued by an ambulance, the man was taken to a nearby hospital with a yellow code, where he was held for observation.
The cyclist was traveling on State Road 387 toward Monserrato. A car driven by a fellow villager was also in the same lane. For reasons currently being investigated by the Parteolla and Basso Campidano local police, the bicycle and the car collided sideways, with the cyclist falling heavily onto the asphalt. Emergency services arrived immediately, with the ambulance and local police arriving.
As mentioned, the injured person was taken to the hospital. The driver was uninjured. The accident occurred at kilometer 14,800 between the Settimo and Soleminis junctions. Within minutes, a long line of cars had formed, with another local police patrol remaining on the scene for a long time to limit the disruption to motorists. Coordinated by Commander Giuseppe Mulas, the local police are now attempting to reconstruct the exact sequence of events and determine who may be responsible.
