Initially, they met via chat, exchanging messages, photos, and videos. Then came a series of in-person encounters that allegedly resulted in sexual abuse. A 38-year-old man living in the province of Cagliari was arrested by police on charges of sexual assault and production of child pornography.

According to the police headquarters' reconstruction, the investigation began with a detailed report regarding the man's alleged association with a 13-year-old girl from the province of Latina.

The Cagliari Prosecutor's Office issued a warrant for a house and computer search against the suspect, which led to the discovery of chat messages exchanged with the girl, as well as sexually explicit images and videos.

The analysis of multimedia content on the devices used by the man, carried out by specialists from the Postal Police, allowed them to capture several conversations between the suspect and the victim and reconstruct their relationship, which initially began with online interactions in 2024, exchanging messages, images, and video calls, and continued with frequent meetings that lasted until last May.

Based on further investigative findings, the prosecutor in charge of the investigation obtained a precautionary detention order from the investigating judge.
