Franco Muto, the alleged boss of the 'Ndrangheta known as the "king of fish", has left the prison of Tempio Pausania where he had been imprisoned for months, and has returned to freedom.

This was decided by the surveillance magistrate of Sassari who ordered the postponement of the sentence for the 81-year-old, sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment with a final sentence for mafia association.

His lawyer, Michele Rizzo, had presented an application accompanied by medical documentation to ask that the prisoner leave the cell due to precarious health conditions incompatible with prison.

Muto has reached his home in Cetraro (Cosenza).

In Tempio he was serving the sentence imposed on him in the "Frontiera" trial, the investigation by the DDA of Catanzaro against his gang active as well as on the control of the fish market along the Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza also in the extortion racket and drug trafficking.
