The conditions of Christian Di Martino, the 35-year-old deputy police inspector injured at the Lambrate station in Milan by an irregular Moroccan, are improving slightly.

The policeman, after an operation and numerous transfusions, still remains on a reserved prognosis at the Niguarda hospital. And the clinical picture is still very critical. He was hit three times with a kitchen knife with a 20 centimeter blade: two serious wounds to a kidney and the duodenum as well as the abdominal vessels.

This morning in the San Vittore prison in Milan , Hasan Hamis, the 37-year-old who stabbed him, was interrogated ( HERE is his long list of precedents) .

The man said he was sorry for what happened and also tried to justify himself: " I live in a situation of constant discomfort and tension, I'm always on the street ." As far as we know, the man explained that he was only passing through Milan: " Since I live a street life, I always go around with a knife, also to defend myself ."

The 37-year-old is accused of attempted murder, aggravated resistance to a public official, injuries towards two other Polfer officers who intervened, carrying a knife (30 cm long with a 20 cm blade) and false attestations regarding identity , because in recent years on the occasion of the various checks by the police he showed up with at least 22 aliases .

In the documents, the prosecutor also reconstructed his violent action towards passers-by, at whom he threw numerous stones taken from the railway embankment on platform 12 of the Lambrate station, also hitting a woman, fortunately slightly injured, before the intervention of the sub-inspector and other officers.

His defense explained that during the interrogation the man answered the questions, giving his version, his interpretation of the facts. Now the defender will have to analyze all the papers, speak at length with his client and it cannot be ruled out that he may later evaluate a request for psychiatric assessment .
