The police arrested a 32-year-old Nigerian man in Rome accused of raping and robbing a woman on September 30 last year in the Garbatella neighborhood.

The turning point in the investigation came when the man was arrested for another violence committed in Anzio, when an 18-year-old was raped in a farmhouse.

The investigators found strong similarities in the modus operandi used in the two episodes, reconstructed also thanks to the collaboration of the victims and the forensic reports, which allowed both crimes to be attributed to the man.

The facts date back to the night of September 30, 2022 when a 40-year-old woman was spending an evening with friends in a club in Garbatella. Around 11.30pm, the victim decides to leave the restaurant. "I'll go out to get something in the car and come back, it'll take me a few seconds", she says to a friend and heads towards the car she had parked not far away, a handful of meters from the entrance of the club.

A few steps on foot, the keys in her hand to open the car but suddenly she is approached from behind by a stranger who perhaps had followed her after seeing her leave the premises. The man pulls the victim and forces him to enter the passenger compartment. A fight ensues, he abuses her and runs away. In the meantime, her friend, not seeing her return, becomes suspicious and leaves the room to look for her: she finds her, a few moments later, in tears and in a clear state of shock.
