A fire broke out during the night, around 2:15, inside the Viola Park in Bagno a Ripoli , in the South C pavilion where the rooms that house the young Fiorentina footballers are located.

Four people, two 17-year-old footballers and a 19-year-old and a 41-year-old accompanying adult, were taken to hospital for checks after inhaling smoke , all reportedly in green code.

The fire started in a room and spread to the corridor where some of the doors of the rooms and the ceiling which is also the roof of the building were damaged . When the flames were extinguished the building was rendered uninhabitable due to the damage reported.

The fire "broke out inside a room in the pavilion dedicated to the youth sector", for reasons "still to be clarified" explains a statement from Fiorentina Calcio . "The alarm system, the emergency procedures and the preparation of the personnel present - it is then explained - ensured the evacuation of the structure quickly. Some people were taken to hospital for checks and accompanied by our health workers; they have already been discharged and are in good condition. The area of the pavilion affected by the fire has, at the moment, been isolated and made safe".

"A night of fear that fortunately did not cause serious damage to people," commented the mayor of Bagno a Ripoli, Francesco Pignotti. "The three boys and the adult taken to the hospital are under observation but are fine. We are in contact with Fiorentina and our entire community is close to them. Thanks to the firefighters and the personnel who intervened promptly, avoiding the worst."
