Vaccinations for children in Italy could start as early as Monday.

The president of Aifa Giorgio Palù told SkyTg24: "Between today and tomorrow it is possible that Ema will bring forward the decision on the vaccine for the 5-11 year old group compared to the end of November and if the European regulatory authority expresses itself between today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow it is very likely to have the green light in Italy next Monday ”.

For children, explains Palù, "the picture is changing and the risk of infection is becoming much higher than the risk of the vaccine".

"If before, with the Alpha variant, 2% of children contracted the infection, today we are reaching 25-30%. The data of the epidemic tell us that the category from 4 to 11 years has the highest incidence. hospitalized children who do not have concomitant pathologies and children who develop a multisystemic inflammatory syndrome, which involves various organs ".

On the situation of the pandemic in Italy, data that are not alarming: "Looking at the numbers, there is a growth in the contagion, but it is not an exponential contagion as it was last year but with a linear trend".

The super Green pass "is a protection measure, because those who attend meeting places for pleasure or for recreational activities put others at risk if they are not vaccinated". According to Palù, the police and PA personnel should also be vaccinated, categories for which the obligation should be introduced.
