Among the greenest Italian provinces, Cagliari is in sixteenth place. In the special ranking drawn up by Legambiente, with Ambiente Italia and Il Sole 24 Ore, for the 28th edition of the “Urban ecosystem” report, the podium is assigned to the province of Trento, followed by Reggio Emilia and Mantua. Lagging behind are Palermo and Catania.

The studio photographs the green performances of 105 provincial capitals in 2020, when Covid was very present and the lockdown had "frozen" the movements.

The general classification, drawn up on the basis of 18 indicators, confirms Trento at the top, Reggio Emilia second (climbed from fifth position and always in the lead in the cycle paths), third Mantua. In the top ten monopolized by medium and small northern cities, the only exception is Cosenza which was fifth in 2018, eighth last year, and this time it is fourth thanks above all to the low number of accidents and purified water, pedestrian areas, diffusion of solar thermal and photovoltaic on public buildings to "cycling".

Treviso and Ferrara close the top ten.

As for the north, Milan is the only one to have achieved improvements in all four areas: mobility, air, waste and cars. In particular, it is the only one among the big cities in which the number of cars circulating per 100 inhabitants has decreased.
