On the day of the funeral of Massimo Melis, the 52-year-old of Sardinian origin killed in Turin on Halloween evening with a gunshot to the head, a turning point arrives. A man was stopped after a long interrogation. He would answer questions very evasively and then ask for a lawyer.

Luigi O., 62, originally from Piazza Armerina, in the Ennese area, knew Patrizia, the friend of the driver of the Green Cross, and had been rejected by him. But many aspects still need to be clarified. The suspect has in fact entrenched himself behind silence.

Among the elements that led the investigators on his trail there are still images captured by video surveillance. Not only that: also threats and warnings found in Melis' chats and messages.

Although the first lead had been that of the friend's stalker, no hypothesis had been left out.

That day, it was Sunday, Melis had accompanied her home after a day spent together. They said goodbye, Massimo went back to the car and then the blow to the head. The outlines were those of a real execution.

Digging into his past and present, some details emerged: he had bought a small apartment that had ended up at auction. The tenants, as it turns out, had not paid the rent and condominium expenses. Hence, a debt had been created with the bank, which seriously worried Melis so much that she asked the family for help. Initially that house was supposed to be his place of residence but he had finally decided to stay and live with his mother. The friends, many, many, not only among the Green Cross colleagues, had offered to lend him money, but he had refused.
