Crushed by a beam in the urban park of Vibo Valentia, he died after five days of agony . Little Francesco, three and a half years old, died. The accident occurred last Friday in the park's new fitness area: according to witnesses present at the time of the tragedy, the child was walking with his parents when he simply leaned against the wooden beam, which collapsed on him, crushing his liver .

Taken to the hospital in Vibo Valentia, after an initial operation to stem the bleeding, he was transferred to the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome by military aircraft. There, he underwent a second operation, and his condition seemed to be improving, until it deteriorated again, until this morning, when the little boy stopped breathing.

The Vibo Valentia Prosecutor's Office has appointed an expert to prepare a report and determine any criminal liability. Documentary and administrative checks are currently underway. As soon as a clear picture and the results of the expert assessment are available, investigators will proceed with further investigations, possibly including physical examinations.

The prosecution's hypothesis in the case, currently without suspects, has now changed: manslaughter .
