Acts of persecution in competition, instigation to commit crimes and aggravated threats.

With these accusations , the Genoa prosecutor's office requested the indictment for 14 no-vaxes who allegedly insulted, threatened, attacked the infectious disease specialist Matteo Bassetti not only physically but also verbally.

«I am pleased to learn that, yesterday, my lawyer Rachele Selvaggia De Stefanis was notified of the decree setting the preliminary hearing, for next November 13 for 14 people who, in the last months of 2021, had harassed me, threatened and made the victim of persecution on the cell phone - writes Bassetti in a note -. The investigation had started from my numerous complaints filed with the prosecutor after the publication of my personal mobile phone number on the no-vax matrix Telegram channel called 'Enough dictatorship' in August of that year . Since that day, I have been literally overwhelmed by messages, calls and vexatious actions - Bassetti recalled - which have involved the contestation of the crime of persecutory acts in competition as well as instigation to commit a crime since, as stated in the request for indictment, numerous subjects belonging to the aforementioned Telegram channel "publicly instigated group members to contact me on my private number, thus making themselves perpetrators of crimes to my detriment"".

All of this ""as part of an action aimed at hitting institutional representatives and supporters of government measures against Covid and, in particular, the anti-Covid vaccination campaign , through the identification and persecution of target figures" including myself "national symbol of the anti-Covid vaccination campaign"».

"As I had already anticipated - concludes Bassetti - I will go all the way to obtain justice, certain that, beyond sympathies and ideologies, the insurmountable limit of respect for the dignity of people must always exist".

It is not the first time that deniers who have threatened the infectious disease specialist have ended up in court. In 2021 there were three convictions for threats and insults. One person was sentenced by criminal decree to a fine of 750 euros : in August 2021 he had chased and threatened Bassetti. Two other no-vaxes were sentenced to 3,000 and 1,200 euros again for threats. In July, a man who had sent messages and videos to Bassetti for three months was indicted, writing "Hands off the children ... Always if you value your life ... We are ready for anything, watch out".
