The Court of Assizes of Milan sentenced Mario Abraham Calero Ramirez, 45, and Carlos Gabriel Velasco Velasco, 23, to life imprisonment for the murder of Fernanda Cocchi, the 90-year-old former seamstress, killed at the end of October 2021, after being hit on the back of the head with an iron in her apartment in via Ponte Seveso and then robbed of a pair of necklaces, a watch, a ring and a few euros.

The judges, presided over by Ilio Mannucci Pacini, went beyond the request of the prosecutor, who had asked for 30 years for one of the two defendants and for the other life imprisonment.

At the last hearing, during her indictment, the public prosecutor Rossella Incardona, in charge of the investigation that brought the two to prison a few days after the crime, explained that "there are no alternative hypotheses to the reconstruction of the facts".

In fact, he added, "after hitting the vital parts" of the lady, who was frail and with serious vision problems, the two defendants who acted in concert to erase the traces of the murder, "set the fire without worrying about her » of the condominiums who live in the building and then go out «to drink and take drugs».
