Drama late yesterday in Como, a 45-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man died in their car which ended up in the lake .

The tragedy occurred at 11pm, in a space in the Villa Geno car park overlooking the lake.

The Mercedes SUV was parked a few meters from the railing when it started forward, breaking through the protection and ending up in the lake , which at that point was immediately about ten meters deep.

A witness raised the alarm, calling for help. This morning the bodies of the two victims were recovered by fire brigade divers who arrived from Turin.

Last night at the time of the tragedy the place was very cold and battered by a strong wind, so the car park, a panoramic point at the end of the road leading to Villa Geno and usually very busy, was practically empty. A couple of teenagers reported to the police that they saw the man and the woman talking and getting into the car . The car, parked two meters from the parapet, then moved forward, went up the pavement, broke through the railing and fell into the lake.
