In Prato, the judge for the preliminary hearing, Francesca Scarlatti , accepted the plea agreement on which the public prosecution and lawyers had agreed on two of the three defendants for the death of Luana D'Orazio , the 22-year-old worker who died while working on the warper on May 3, 2021 .
In detail, the sentence imposes 2 years of imprisonment for Luana Coppini , owner of the company where the fatal accident occurred, and one year and six months for her husband Daniele Faggi , de facto owner of the company. Both penalties include probation.
"Very disappointed" Emma Marrazzo, mother of the 22 year old: "I was hoping for a more just sentence" , commented after the hearing.
"This is a very swift sentence that rests on two pillars and is not scandalous at all, as I have heard on social media, but right", said the lawyer Alberto Rocca, who assisted Coppini and Faggi.
