Francesco Bruno, one of the best known Italian criminologists, has died.
This was announced by Matteo Lettieri, mayor of Celico, the center of Cosentino where Bruno was originally from.
«This morning - writes Lettieri - Celico mourns the loss of one of his most illustrious fellow citizens, prof. Francesco Bruno, internationally renowned doctor and criminologist. The professor. Bruno was a luminary, engaged in solving the most heinous Italian crimes. Thanks to his studies it had been possible to link the murders of the monster of Florence to esotericism».
Professor at Sapienza University, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery in Rome in 1973. In the early 1980s, at the instigation of Vincenzo Parisi, then head of Sisde, he published the first university study linking the murders commissioned to the «Monster of Florence» , committed between 1968 and 1985, with esotericism and the sacrificial motive.
For years he has collaborated with various ministries in the fight against mafia crime and drugs. On TV he was often a guest in programs dedicated to serial killers: Delitti, Porta a Porta and Maurizio Costanzo Show.
