The mafia boss Raffaele Ganci , head of the clan of the Palermo district of La Noce, considered a loyalist of Savatore Riina , died in Milan.

Ganci was 90 years old and was hospitalized in the San Paolo hospital, in the prison ward, he was serving several life sentences.

Among the various murders for which he is considered responsible there is also that of General Alberto Dalla Chiesa , killed in his car in via Carini, in Palermo, on 3 September 1982, together with his wife Emanuela Setti Carraro and the escort agent. He also participated in the massacres of the deputy chief Ninni Cassarà and of the agent Roberto Antiochia and in the 1992 massacres that caused the death of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino.

From his family's butcher's shop, in via Francesco Lo Jacono, in Palermo, there was a privileged observatory on the nearby home of Giovanni Falcone : from there, according to his (repentant) son, the warning was issued that the magistrate was returning to Palermo, because he saw that the armored car of the judicial driver had left its place under Falcone's house.
