Terrible crash into a tree: an Army soldier dies

An Army soldier, Nicolò Cavalera, 24 years old from Leverano, died in a fatal accident that occurred last night on the provincial road that connects Campi Salentina to Trepuzzi (Lecce). The young man was aboard a Mercedes A-class which, for reasons currently being investigated, went off the road, ending up in the surrounding countryside and crashing into an olive tree .
The firefighters of the Veglie detachment intervened at the scene of the accident and freed the body of the young man trapped in the passenger compartment. Attempts to resuscitate him by the 118 paramedics were in vain . The Carabinieri carried out surveys to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident.
Cavalera, as far as we know, was serving in Northern Italy and had returned to Salento for leave.
