Tommaso Chiodo did not make it: the 16-year-old born in the "Terra dei Fuochi" between the provinces of Naples and Caserta died today at the Bambin Gesù hospital in Rome where he was hospitalized due to a " bad illness " that did not affect him left out.

Born and raised in Afragola, a municipality that is part of that vast area full of illegal dumps and where toxic and highly dangerous waste has been buried by the Camorra . A concentration of dioxins and polluting gases that has increased the incidence of certain pathologies, primarily cancer.

On the chats of relatives and friends we read this message : «I am Tommaso Chiodo and from today I will be 16 years old forever, I was born in the Land of Fires, I fought against a monster and now I have found peace in the arms of the Lord. I wanted to become a football goalkeeper and I was not allowed ».

"The Land of Fires continues, undaunted, to reap its victims, let us pray for Tommaso and his family", is the condolence on the social networks of Father Maurizio Patriciello. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 4pm.

Tommaso's idol, who won't even be able to rejoice for the Napoli championship, was Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian attacker had encouraged him to resist with a video that had been delivered to "Tommy" , as he called himself, on March 3rd.
