New measures could arrive on December 23rd to face the advance of the Omicron variant in Italy.

Next Thursday a control room chaired by Prime Minister Draghi and a council of ministers will be held at Palazzo Chigi in which the data of a "flash survey" scheduled for next Monday will be evaluated, when a statistically significant number of collected samples will be sequenced in 24 hours.

THE MEASURES - According to what emerges from government sources, the executive is working to reduce the duration of the Green pass to five months, the obligation of outdoor masks even in the white area and tampons also for those who are vaccinated to participate in events, parties, and to go to crowded places like cinemas and theaters.

Also on the table are the hypotheses on the extension of the vaccination obligation to other work categories such as those in contact with the public (especially the public administration) or the extension of the green certificate in a reinforced version in the same areas.

THE POINT - Seven regions and autonomous provinces have so far passed the alert threshold by passing into the yellow zone: from Monday Liguria, Marche, Veneto and Trento will be added to Calabria, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Bolzano. But there are others such as Lombardy that have numbers in clear growth and are about to leave the white zone in the coming weeks.

The Omicron beacon remains on: this is why the ministry could ask for an increase in the work of the over 70 special laboratories in the various regions, which pour the data into the platform for genomic surveillance of the variants present in the country. "It is essential to understand how much Omicron is growing and at what pace with respect to the epidemiological trend", explains Health Minister Roberto Speranza. At the moment, the Omicron sequences analyzed have risen to 84. But - warns the president of the ISS, Silvio Brusaferro - on the variant "an increase in cases is likely in the coming days". Indeed, the fourth wave appears to be in full swing.

In the meantime, pending the next decree, the Dpcm has been published in the Official Journal which indicates the procedures for revoking the Green pass if the holder of the certificate proves positive during the period of validity of the document or in the case of false passes. The "National Platform-Dgc" generates the automatic revocation in the event of a positive outcome. The same revocation will also be communicated to the European Gateway. It will then be automatically canceled following the issuance of the green healing certificate.
