While the protest against speed detectors grows, with some cases of "killing" of fixed devices by unknown persons, Codacons issues a report indicating that Italy is the European country with the highest number of speed cameras installed along the roads.

According to the latest estimates, there are 11,130 automatic speed detection devices in our country, more than Great Britain (around 7,700), Germany (over 4,700), France (3,780).

After Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, the last speed camera was knocked down just yesterday in the Treviso area. And again in Veneto there are other cases of vandalism.

Based on official data from the Ministry of the Interior, in 2022 the main 20 Italian cities collected a total of 75,891,968 euros thanks to high fines via speed cameras, with a growth of +61.7% compared to the 46,921,290 euros of proceeds recorded by the same municipal administrations in 2021.
