She allegedly let the baby she gave birth to on a cruise ship about two days earlier die. With this accusation, the Grosseto prosecutor's office arrested a woman of Filipino origin for murder.
According to what we learn, the woman is part of the crew and kept her pregnancy hidden . Colleagues raised the alarm on Sunday evening when the ship, flying the flag of the Bahamas, crossed off the coast of Argentario. The police intervened on board.
The newborn's body was in the cabin that the mother shared with other crew members. The police, after having reached the Silver Whisper ship in the open sea with a patrol boat, searched the cabin and other rooms of the ship, also carrying out photographic surveys. The first testimonies have been acquired and the investigations are now continuing on land.
The woman was in a confused state and was taken to the emergency room in Grosseto. This morning the Grosseto prosecutor's office decided to arrest him. The child's body is in the "Misericordia" morgue and an autopsy could be arranged. According to an initial examination, the death was not caused by suffocation : the mother left him to die, abandoning him for hours inside the cabin, without medical care or milk.
