The former force and current senator of "Cambiamo!" Paolo Romani was registered by the Monza public prosecutor in the register of suspects on charges of embezzlement .

According to the investigators he would have subtracted 350 thousand euros from the accounts of Forza Italia , in part by making them "ferry" through a collaboration with the entrepreneur Domenico Pedico, who is also under investigation .

This was announced by the Monza Public Prosecutor's Office. Already summoned for questioning, Romani made use of the right not to answer , but made spontaneous statements.

THE INVESTIGATION - The investigation was carried out by the Special Currency Police Unit of the Milan Finance Police , coordinated by the Monza Attorney Claudio Gittardi, and started with some reports of suspicious transactions on the accounts of Forza Italia.

The Fiamme Gialle thus ascertained that the senator, between 2013 and 2018, at the time Head of the Parliamentary Group of the People of Freedom, "having the availability of sums of money lying" on the party's account in a bank of "Palazzo Madama and made out to the Forza Italia group and with a proxy in its favor ", reads the charges," appropriated the total amount of 83 thousand euros ", through three checks issued in its signature" and in its own name ", and then deposited them on the own current account, in a branch in Cinisello Balsamo (Milan).

Two other similar transactions emerged from the investigations of the Guardia di Finanza: the first for over 180 thousand euros moved to the account of the entrepreneur Pedico , and to that of "CarontGraft D&K srl", currently in liquidation, always attributable to the entrepreneur. Money then diverted by Pedico to his personal accounts, and then returned to Romans, through other bank checks. The senator would also have used approximately 95 thousand euros for personal expenses and for the payment of services or professionals that do not comply with the regulations of the Senate of the Republic .
