Rocco Morabito returned to Italy after thirty years in hiding. The boss of the 'Ndrangheta landed at Rome Ciampino airport in the early hours of the morning.

Considered one of the most important international drug traffickers in the world and therefore included in the list of fugitives of maximum danger of the "Special Research Program" of the Ministry of the Interior (second only to Matteo Messina Denaro), the 56-year-old was arrested on 25 May last year by the Brazilian federal police, during a joint operation with the Carabinieri of the ROS and the Provincial Command of Reggio Calabria, supported by the International Police Cooperation Service - I-CAN project and by the US agencies DEA and FBI.

Now a definitive sentence of 30 years of imprisonment awaits him.

Last year Morabito, originally from Africo, in the province of Reggio Calabria, had been located in João Pessoa while he was together with another fugitive from the 'Ndrangheta, Vincenzo Pasquino , in turn wanted by the Provincial Command of Turin of the carabinieri, who were conducting parallel investigations coordinated by the district attorney of the Piedmontese capital, directed by Anna Maria Loreto.
