In Milan, the last farewell to Ramy Elgaml , the 19-year-old of Egyptian origin who died in a scooter accident that occurred during a chase with the carabinieri on the night between 23 and 24 November, an episode that triggered protests and clashes in the Corvetto neighborhood , where the young man lived.

"Condolences to the relatives and friends. We are very close to Ramy's family. We ask that God listen to our effort. We must be the messengers of peace, justice and equality. We must move forward and always ask for justice. I hope that Allah will accept him in his great paradise", said Imam Mahmoud Asfa who celebrated the function, at the cemetery of Bruzzano, in front of a crowd of friends, family and acquaintances of the boy.

"They are young people born and raised in Italy, they are young people belonging to this society, they are Italians and I believe - added the imam - that the institutions have a very important role. With all due respect, this law according to which you have to be born here and wait until you are 18 to have citizenship complicates the lives of these young people, it does not make them feel they belong to this society".

Again, Asfa continued, "we as a Muslim community work day and night to make these kids who were born and raised in Italy feel that they are Italian. We ask the institutions to give importance to these young people and to grant citizenship because there are so many who find it difficult . The institutions must work to make them feel that they are children and belong to this society and that they have the right to contribute to the development of this country."
