A woman had labor pains while she was in her apartment and, since the baby was in a hurry to be born, no rush to the hospital: the birth took place at home thanks to a gynecologist connected via video call with WhatsApp.

It happened in Ruvo di Puglia, in the province of Bari. Mom and son are fine and were then hospitalized.

It all started around 4 in the morning when the woman began to feel some discomfort. Around 7 he called his trusted gynecologist, Francesco Meo, in service at the gynecology of the San Paolo hospital in Bari, who was at home at the time, because the contractions had become rhythmic.

The doctor invited her to go to the nearest hospital for the delivery. But after about a quarter of an hour, the woman, who was still at home, called the doctor back and told him she felt the baby's head was about to come out . The gynecologist then started a video call with which he found that the birth was imminent.

He then invited the woman's husband to warm up some towels and the woman to assume the birthing position. As soon as the baby was born, the father, following the doctor's instructions, wrapped the baby in a towel, freed his airways with the towel and put him to his breast.

Then the 118 call started and, once he arrived on the spot, the ambulance nurse, again on the doctor's instructions on video, severed the umbilical cord and performed operations useful to reduce the woman's blood loss.

Finally transport to the hospital, where the woman, in her second pregnancy, was hospitalized, as mentioned in good condition, together with her baby.
