Pope Luciani proclaimed Blessed: feast in St. Peter's Square
John Paul I will be celebrated every 26 August, the day of his election as PontiffPope Francis proclaimed Pope Luciani blessed .

The feast of the new blessed will be every 26 August , the day of the election, in 1978, of Pope John Paul I.
Great emotion in Canale d'Agordo, the Belluno town where Luciani came from. A hundred faithful from the town of Belluno went to Rome to attend the event, another three hundred moved by bus to Rome from the entire Diocese of Belluno. The President of Veneto Luca Zaia and the Belluno minister Federico D'Incà were present in the square.
