The night "passed peacefully" , so much so that the emergency crisis that Pope Francis suffered yesterday in his room at Gemelli has substantially subsided today . The Vatican press office confirmed this, specifying that the pontiff " still has the 'nose pads' applied for the administration of high-flow oxygen , which help him breathe. This morning Francis underwent new clinical tests, based on the results of which a new medical update will be released this evening".

Bergoglio, as he himself stated, was able to rest surrounded by messages of affection and prayers from the faithful. "For my part," Francis wrote in the text for the Angelus, " I confidently continue my hospitalization at the Policlinico Gemelli , continuing with the necessary treatments; and rest is also part of the therapy. I heartily thank the doctors and health workers of this hospital for the attention they are showing me and for the dedication with which they carry out their service among the sick."

The Pope's thoughts also included a reference to tomorrow, which will mark the " third anniversary of the large-scale war against Ukraine: a painful and shameful anniversary for all humanity". "While I renew my closeness to the martyred Ukrainian people," the Pontiff added, " I invite you to remember the victims of all armed conflicts and to pray for the gift of peace in Palestine, Israel and throughout the Middle East, in Myanmar, Kivu and Sudan ."

And thanking you for the "many messages of affection that I have received from all over the world", the Pope entrusted "everyone to the intercession of Mary. I ask you to pray for me ".
