He tried to hide the strong hash smell with mothballs, but it didn't work.

A 37-year-old with a clean record from Nocera Inferiore, in the province of Salerno, was arrested on charges of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Stopped by the Carabinieri at the Casoria motorway junction, in the province of Naples, the man had sealed jute parcels in his car. All bore the words "136 + BMX" and, on the cover, photos of exotic fruits from Latin and Central America such as annona cherimola and avocado.

Instead, 231 kilos of hashish were hidden in the boxes, ready for sale, for a market value of 2 million euros.

The arrested person was transferred to prison while investigations are underway by the Carabinieri on the origins of the drug.
