Firefighters, emergency medical services, and law enforcement officers were overworked on New Year's Eve.

Throughout Italy, there were 770 emergency calls during the night for fires during the celebrations, 112 fewer than last year, when there were 882.

The highest number was in Emilia Romagna, where there were 114.

Dozens were also injured by the explosion of firecrackers and fireworks, of which only 57 were in Naples and the surrounding province.

In Aversa (Caserta), a nine-year-old boy was slightly injured in the right hand during the night, grazed by a stray bullet.
