The former premier's lawyers have presented a medical certificate justifying his absence. Certificate delivered on Friday 10 February, but the next day - Saturday - he went to the stadium to watch his Monza match against Spal.
So much so that the prosecutor Rosario Ferracane observed in the courtroom that "it is more stressful to go to the stadium than to testify in a trial".
"It is not clear how it can be more stressful to be in the courtroom to testify in the trial where an offended party is involved, compared to the adrenaline of a football match", echoed the defense lawyer of Rigato Stefano Gerunda.
"Being in the courtroom is definitely more stressful," replied Cav's lawyer Salvatore Pino. Silvio Berlusconi will be heard at this point, together with accountant Giuseppe Spinelli and Francesca Cipriani on October 18. The next hearing will be Rigato's turn.
