She is "devastated", reports her lawyer, but has still remained silent. She made use of the right not to answer even in front of the investigating judge Rosa Fabbiano, the 58-year-old locked up in the Milanese prison of San Vittore, accused of killing her elderly mother Lucia Cipriano - 84 years old - in Melzo and of having torn her to pieces.

The body was found in the bathtub in an advanced state of decomposition, the woman had been dead for two months.

Now the woman is in prison on charges of voluntary murder , insult and concealment of a corpse and awaits the decision of the investigating judge who - unless sensational surprises - should validate the arrest.

"A FAMILY TRAGEDY"

“It was a tragedy within the family, you can understand how it feels,” commented his lawyer Daniele Brambilla. The context, the lawyer underlined immediately after the interrogation, is that of "a normal family", even if "the reason why the sisters did not take care of the mother or did not speak to each other I still have to ascertain".

THE DISCOVERY OF THE BODY

The younger daughter who lives in Trento - another resides in Melzo, the suspect in Mediglia, also in the Milanese area - had not heard from her mother for some time. Rosa, who also had the keys to the house, had told her that a transfer to an RSA had been necessary, but the excuse no longer held up and she had not been able to prevent her younger sister from arriving in Melzo to understand what was happening. She had initially managed to keep her out of the bathroom with a suspicious attitude. In the end, however, Rosa had given in, revealing to her that she had "made a disaster" and asking her to accompany her to the carabinieri.

While they were going to the barracks the suspect had a nervous breakdown and tried to escape to the camps, only to be tracked down by the military . The carabinieri then, once in the house, made the macabre discovery. In front of the military the woman had made partial admissions, and then availed herself of the right not to answer.

AN EXASPERATE WOMAN

The lawyer does not exclude the possibility of requesting a psychiatric report: "I reserve the right to do it when I see all the documentation, even if for the family context it is not usual". “To me - said the lawyer - it does not appear that the lady did not receive help. I also have to understand the family dynamics well, I know she was retired, but she was not a widow. It was separate ".

For now it is assumed that she was killed by asphyxiation, not by strangulation. The investigations are also focused on the motive. Rosa was exasperated by a difficult life, with a mother afflicted with severe senile dementia and whom she had to look after. Just as she took care of her disabled husband, who was in precarious economic conditions.
