Newborn baby found dead on the rocks at Villa San Giovanni

The lifeless body of a black baby girl was found this morning among the rocks in Villa San Giovanni, in the province of Reggio Calabria.

It was close to the ferry docks for Sicily.

The body of the little girl, probably recently given birth, had been placed in a plastic bag and then in a backpack. He still had the umbilical cord attached.

The alarm was raised by a fisherman who immediately notified the police.

It is yet to be understood whether the little girl died during childbirth and was abandoned already lifeless or whether the death occurred due to suffocation due to the way in which she was abandoned.

An autopsy will be arranged.

In these hours the Reggio Calabria mobile team is checking whether there are cameras in the area that could have filmed something that could prove useful for the investigations.

The police who carried out the investigations are investigating the matter.
